Joseph and Dun initially came on stage with ski masks and white jackets, and bejeweled sunglasses over their eyes, kicking the show off with the atypically sunny "Good Day," interrupted by raw static and footage of a disturbingly cheerful sitcom couple gone to seed. And there was the soaring "Shy Away," with Joseph, one of the first in a brave new wave of pop artists openly singing about their anxieties, empowering fans to "leave their skin on the floor," giving the song live its own makeover with a striking transition into a bombastic take of My Chemical Romance's "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)."Īnd "Scaled and Icy" offered an opportunity to show off some new theatrics.
